Loren Smith, singer, and performing sensation, chatted briefly with me about his debut EP Christmas From My Heart To Yours, which was recently released. The new EP is one of a kind and features the hit song "Our First Christmas," a beautiful song that is LGBTQ+ inspired. Where did the inspirations come to write “Our First Christmas?”
My Co-Writer, Erik Kertes had the idea to write a holiday song we'd both never heard before specifically for the LGTBQIA+ community and their allies. We sat down together and this was the fruit of that labor!
What did you learn about yourself while writing this song?
I enjoy co-writing! Erik is a great producer, writer and partner to bounce ideas off of. Very grateful for him, I also solidified the notion that what comes from the heart, goes to the heart. I was taught that as a vocalist, but it applies to so many other areas as well!
The music video for this is awesome. Where was it shot and how did you come up with the concept for it?
Thank you! We shot in a private studio in Arcadia, CA. I came up with the concept for a beautiful video that was also a lyric video to make it all the more easier to follow the story and sing along. I wanted a lot of close ups on my face in hopes that the story would connect me to the viewer.
This is truly a beautiful Christmas song for the LGBT+ community. What do you want people to take away from this interview?
I hope if anyone is meeting me for the first time, that you stay a while! The art I create is for all who value mental health, positivity, and the lessons we learn when life could've broken us, but we continue to fight. As an independent artist, I can't do any of this without you!!! If you like ANY of the art i create, I hope you share it with those you love.
